Dietitian Professional Programme
The Department of Nutrition Science, as one of the departments in the Faculty of Human Ecology at IPB University (FEMA IPB), is one of the pioneering higher education institutions offering undergraduate and postgraduate nutrition programs in Indonesia. The Indonesian Nutritionists Association (Persagi) has formally mandated 12 departments from various universities in Indonesia that are considered capable of providing professional dietitian education, including the Department of Community Nutrition at FEMA IPB (Number 1908/DPP-PERSAGI/SEK/VII/2017 and number 1790/DPP-PERSAGI/SEK/V/2017).
The results of a 2015 Ministry of Health study show that Indonesia will need 36.391 dietitians over the next 20 years, while the current number available is very limited at 746 dietitians. In addition, the presence of dietitians from other countries also needs to be anticipated. In relation to the ASEAN Economic Community (MEA) policy, nutritionist graduates from abroad, especially from Asia and Australia, have been able to easily enter the Indonesian workforce since 2016. Indonesian nutritionists must be prepared to compete both at home and abroad with foreign nutritionists.
To address these challenges, on June 26, 2019, the Department of Nutrition Science at FEMA IPB officially launched the Dietitian Professional Education Programme in accordance with IPB Rector’s Decree No. 147/IT3/PP/2019 and has met the Minimum Accreditation Standards of LAM-PTKes with Number 0004/LAM-PTKes/Akr PSB. PTN-BH/Pro/VII/2019. The presence of the IPB Dietitian Professional Program is expected to produce reliable and competitive professional graduates.

Degree, Dietitian Competency Examination and Dietitian Professional Oath
Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2020 concerning Procedures for Implementing Competency Tests for Health Students, health students at the end of their professional education programme must take a national competency test. Thus, a student will be declared to have passed if they have passed the National Competency Test and fulfilled the requirements of their education programme. The National Dietitian Competency Test is conducted by universities in collaboration with professional organisations (Persagi) and AIPGI. Upon completion of their education, graduates will receive the title of Dietitian and take the Professional Oath. After that, Dietitians will apply for a registration number and, upon receiving it, will obtain the title of Registered Dietitian (RD).
Teacher and Field Instructor Profiles
The IPB Dietitian Study Programme has lecturers who are graduates of renowned universities, both domestic and international, and hold RD titles, as well as field instructors who are experienced in their fields.
