Veterinary Medicine Program (PPDH)

The Veterinary Medicine Professional Education Program is an advanced education program from the Veterinary Medicine Undergraduate Program at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB) with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (SKH) degree. Graduates of the Veterinary Medicine undergraduate program can earn a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (Drh) degree after completing the Veterinary Medicine Professional Education Program at SKHB IPB by completing 37 credit hours within 18 months (3 semesters). Currently, the PPDH IPB Study Program has been internationally accredited by ASIIN.

The activities of the PPDH Study Program at SKHB IPB University (IPB) are broadly divided into two categories: intramural activities, which are education within the campus, and extramural activities, which are education outside the campus. Intramural activities are carried out in semester 1 and part of semester 2, while extramural activities are carried out in part of semester 2 and semester 3.

Before the start of each semester, soft skills training, general studies, and character building activities will be conducted. Intramural activities on campus carried out in semester 1 include: Prescription and Drug Application, Surgery and Radiology, Internal Medicine and Clinical Pathology, Reproduction and Midwifery, and Diagnostic Laboratory. Intramural activities carried out in semester 2 are Pathological Diagnostics and Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology. In semester 2, extramural activities (outside the campus) also begin, namely Hospital Internships, Government and RPH Internships, Poultry Health Internships, and Cattle Health Internships. In semester 3, extramural activities outside the campus include Animal Welfare and Elective Internships. In the elective internship activities, there are several internship places such as a) Veterinary Biomedical Product Industry, b) Horse Health, c) Quarantine, d) Wildlife Health Internship, e) Aquatic Animal Health Internship, f) Laboratory Animal Health, and g) Elective professions according to student interests outside of those already provided. Students who have completed all intra- and extra-mural activities will take the Veterinary Medicine Professional Program Student Competency Exam (UKMPPDH) organized by the Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The UKMPPDH is an exit exam. The PPDH program ends with students passing the Veterinary Medicine Final Exam (UASDH).

Registration Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Veterinary Medicine
   – Graduates of the IPB Veterinary Medicine Bachelor’s program in the last three years (2024, 2025, 2026)
   – Graduates of the IPB Veterinary Medicine Bachelor’s program more than three years ago (before 2024)
   – Graduates of Veterinary Medicine Bachelor’s programs other than IPB (registration is only open during even-numbered periods) with a faculty of origin that must be accredited as Excellent.
2. Possess good English language skills as evidenced by a TOEFL certificate with a minimum score of 450 or an IELTS certificate with a minimum score of 5.0
3. A letter of physical and mental health (online consultations are not permitted; prospective veterinarians must consult with a doctor in person)
4. Have active health insurance (Askes, BPJS, private/company insurance)

Note:

1. Veterinary Medicine graduates from IPB before 2023 and graduates from other universities who have registered and meet the requirements will take a written and oral entrance exam conducted online.
2. Students who take the oral exam are those who pass the written exam (the passing grade for the written exam is a minimum of 70).
3. Students are declared to have passed if they pass both the written and oral exams.
4. PPDH applicants must have already been vaccinated against rabies independently or be willing to undergo rabies vaccination coordinated by the study program.
